Pack your hiking boots! From September 20 to 27, 2026, the EURORANDO – the largest hiking event of the European Ramblers’ Association – is coming to the Erzgebirge. For one week, Fichtelberg and the Czech Keilberg (Klínovec) will be the focus of the event, which opens on September 20 under the banner of our UNESCO World Heritage Site Ore Mountains/Krušnohoří Mining Region.
Starting Point Oberwiesenthal: Following in the Footsteps of Our Sports Legends
With around 50 different hikes throughout the Erzgebirge, there’s something for every taste. Oberwiesenthal is the starting point for several highlight tours:
-
Silke Otto Tour: Named after the former Olympic luge champion, it leads to magnificent viewpoints around our home region.
-
Eric Frenzel Tour: A varied route following in the footsteps of our world-class Nordic Combined athlete.
Whether on your own or guided, short or long: you’ll explore the German and Czech sides of the Erzgebirge and combine enjoyment of nature with the mining history of our region.
Supporting Program on the Open-Air Stage & Border Experience
There’s also a lot happening in town: The Oberwiesenthal Open-Air Stage will become a meeting point with a colorful cultural program. The highlight is September 26, 2026, with the grand closing ceremony, a festive parade, and the inauguration of a new stone monument at the border.
Be there!
Enjoy an unforgettable late summer week full of community, nature, and adventure at Fichtelberg!
